Personality & Traits

General Overview Compassionate, empathetic and warm, Niamh ticks all the boxes for a desirable therapist. She is liberally minded and believes that the lives of every person holds equal value, a core value that even the fall could shake. Since the fall, she feels minor contempt towards individuals with more questionable values.

She views her work as rewarding and is seldom disappointed to be on duty. She rarely sleeps, something that has gotten worse since the Fall and is prone to becoming overwhelmed if too many of her patients are experiencing trauma.

Personal History Born on Caprica, Niamh, pronounced Nee-uv, is the daughter of Pádraig  and Camilla O'Donoghue. Her family were moderately wealthy and were known throughout the local neighborhood for their ongoing philanthropy for education and medicine. Her parents ran a small medical clinic in one of the poorer parts of Phoebus City.

Her upbringing was relatively peaceful and it soon became apparent that was an especially compassionate individual. Some time around four, she created a 'Snail Hospital' in order to try and save the snails that had been trodden on. As she got older, she continue to spend her time helping others and volunteered at her parents clinic as the receptionist, befriending and listing to her parents patients as they waited to be seen.

With high school coming to a close, Niamh had settled on a path for her future and that involved becoming a member of the Colonial Fleet's medical corps hoping to gain the funding to see her through to her PsyD in return for unwavering commitment.

First she needed to attain a bachelors, so she attended the University of Delphi city, as a student of the Counselling and Psychotherapy program.  She stuck her head down and worked hard, which ended up paying off. In her final year she managed to secure a placement at the Delphi Convalescent Institute learning much from the year and gaining an insight into mental health and the effects it could have if it went unchecked.

Upon completion of her Bachelors she applied to Join the Fleet as an Assistant Psychiatrist at the Caprica Fleet Academy Medical Center. At the same time she began a masters in applied clinical psychology. Finishing her masters, she applied for a transfer, specifically requesting assignment on Picon, which was accepted alongside a promotion to Lieutenant Junior Grade.

Hoping to finish her educational career as soon as possible, she found herself being accepted at the Colonial Fleet Academy in order to complete a doctorate of Clinical Psychiatry. She would work well in the clinical psychiatry department and quickly began to distinguish herself as a skilled therapist. She also did well academically and finally completed her PsyD after 4 years. She was also promoted to lieutenant.
